LOCATION
Villa Chigi is located on a hill nestled between the Crete Senesi valley and the Val d'Orcia. The historic property can be reached via a white road, typical of this part of Tuscany. Arriving you can breathe and enjoy the beauty and charm that characterize this hilly area, while remaining just a few minutes away from the services. The gaze can wander freely, among the sinuous peaks of the hills, bouncing between the green of the woods, the rows of cypresses and the "white patches", the biancane, made up of accumulations of sandstone typical of clayey soils mixed with newly formed sand geological. You find yourself immersed in a space of calm, tranquility and beauty, where time seems almost suspended but at the same time, in less than an hour's drive you can reach typical villages of the Tuscan landscape, Pienza, Montepulciano and Cortona or real own cities, such as Florence and Siena.
GARDEN AND OUTDOOR SPACE
The surrounding garden is set up in the Italian style with ornamental flowers of various types, arranged following the geometry of the buildings. The lot is two and a half acres and in its extension it includes: a vegetable garden, a bowling green, a well, an artificial lake, a pad for taking off and landing of helicopters. Between the villa and the larger of the two annexes there is a courtyard paved in terracotta with a star-shaped marble intersection. In one of the two annexes, an external portico with pergola frames the lounge area, embellished by a professional outdoor kitchen, equipped with a gas barbecue and terracotta oven. 14 x 7 m swimming pool with solarium area served by a shower cubicle and a room with toilet, located in the basement. FINISHES
The main nucleus of Villa Chigi was built in 1520, when the Chigi family commissioned a hunting estate from Tommaso Baldassarre Peruzzi. The residence then expanded over the centuries and in 2015 the current owners undertook a fine and sensitive restoration which returned the prestigious property equipped with the contemporary comforts we see today. The typical materials of Tuscan construction have been maintained. The floors are in stone or terracotta, the latter also used for roofing; both the vaulted ones and the terracotta tiles with exposed beams.
In the first and largest of the annexes, the billiard table and the bar counter in travertine and walnut wood are made to measure and entirely handmade. The details of shapes and materials interact perfectly with each other, giving an aesthetic and emotional impact that make this perfectly restored estate unique.
The Crete Senesi are the area south-east of the city of Siena, the name derives from the clay or clay present in the soil, which gives the landscape its characteristic gray-blue color and an appearance often described as lunar. Characteristic clay composed of rock salt and chalk.
The Val d'Orcia owes its name to the river Orcia that crosses it. This splendid region in southern Tuscany winds along the provinces of Siena and Grosseto. The entire area is now a protected park, and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004. The absolute protagonist of the Val d'Orcia is in fact a still uncontaminated and beautiful nature, with ever-changing colors according to the various seasons. The position, moving a little, allows you to enjoy the beauty of Chianti or the charm and calm that the Umbrian countryside can also give. Internationally renowned; in addition to the colors, the particularity of the landscape, the supple lines donated by the rolling hills, there are also the scents and flavors that the Val d'Orcia and all of Tuscany have been offering its visitors for centuries.
