Summer in Versilia also means music and shows, strictly outdoors: and as we shall see, there is something for all tastes and ages.
Torre del Lago
On the centenary of Giacomo Puccini‘s death, it is worth starting with the festival dedicated to him: the great theatre on the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli, in Torre del Lago, will stage the musician’s most beautiful operas, from Turandot to Tosca, from Madama Butterfly to Bohème. The festival, which boasts a seniority of no less than 70 editions, will take place over 18 evenings, starting on 12 July. A special event is also scheduled, on 17 July, with the Roberto Bolle and Friends Gala.
Forte dei Marmi
Forte dei Marmi offers the Villa Bertelli Live review, with lots of superpop music: from Emma to Mahmood, from Pooh to Cristiano De André with a tribute to his father Fabrizio. The shows take place in the park of Villa Bertelli in Vittoria Apuana and are mainly concentrated in the month of August.
Marina di Pietrasanta
Marina di Pietrasanta responds with the La Versiliana festival, in the open-air theatre set up in the park of the villa dear to D’Annunzio, between July and August. There will be plenty of space for comedy, with established and emerging talents, and lots of music, with names such as Jack Savoretti, Ermal Meta, Francesco De Gregori, and Fiorella Mannoia, up to the great concert with 200 musicians for Carmina Burana and Bolero, and the recital-tribute to Mina, by Silvia Mezzanotte.
The Versiliana also offers shows for children and the famous ‘Caffè’, an open-air talk show between entertainment, culture and politics.
Lido di Camaiore
The second edition of the La Prima Estate festival returns to Lido di Camaiore, at the BussolaDomani Park on the weekends of 14 to 16 and 21 to 23 June 2024. Every evening, starting at 6.30 p.m., there will be four concerts by international artists and bands from the indie, classic rock and dance scene. Among them Jane’s Addiction, Phoenix, Kasabian, Paolo Nutini and Peggy Gou.

Seravezza
A few kilometres from the sea, in Seravezza, from 15 to 22 July there is a true festival of music, the Seravezza Blues Festival. Every evening there are concerts between blues and jazz, the contest dedicated to emerging bands, and the Blues Village, with exhibitions by master lute-makers. The highlight will be the evening of the 22nd, with a concert by Incognito, a band that pioneered acid jazz and music to dance to. All in the garden of the Palazzo Mediceo, a Unesco heritage site.

Lucca
And finally, the super bill of the Lucca Summer Festival, which opens its doors on Sunday 2 June with Eric Clapton’s guitar. The programme includes 19 concerts of rock, pop, rap, blues, and jazz with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Rod Stewart, Duran Duran, John Fogerty, Smashing Pumpkins, Mika, Toto, and Lenny Kravitz. The programme also includes an appointment with classical music, with the 28 June concert dedicated to Puccini: the Cherubini Orchestra will be conducted by maestro Riccardo Muti.
